About these figures
Official IEC figures: how we add them up
In local elections the IEC adds votes across the ward, PR and district ballots, so we show valid votes per ballot instead of one "votes cast" total.
The IEC publishes no DC 40% ballot result for a district council itself; these are the party vote totals from the IEC's seat calculation for the district. Percentages are calculated from them.
The change beside the headline is the difference between the leading party's share here and its share in the 2021 election for the same municipality, both from the IEC's counts, with no votes re-allocated between boundaries.
12 of the council's 29 seats are directly elected on the DC 40% ballot; the other 17 are appointed by the local councils in the district.
Percentages are calculated from the IEC's vote counts. Official results: results.elections.org.za.
Map boundaries: Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) and the IEC.
