UPDATE -ON THE TWO PEOPLE FOUND DECEASED INSIDE A HOUSE IN KWA-THEMA(POLICE REPORT) Two people, a 42-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, were found deceased inside a house in Phomolo Section, Mokhitli Street, Kwa-Thema, on Thursday, 17 September 2026. According to police, officers were called to the address at around 13:00 after a young woman reported that her parents appeared to be lifeless in one of the back rooms of the house. Upon entering the room, police found the two bodies. The 42-year-old woman was found lying on a bed, while the 57-year-old man was found on the floor. Police also observed a transparent plastic bag containing a blackish substance on the bed. A similar substance was reportedly found in the hands and mouths of both deceased individuals. Paramedics were called to the scene and, after examining the two people, declared them deceased. An inquest docket has since been opened as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The investigation is being handled by Kwa-Thema SAPS and remains ongoing.

MISSING PERSON ALERT – KWA THEMA The family of Siyoni Gwebu, an elderly man believed to be in his late 70s, is appealing to the community for assistance in locating him. Mr Gwebu is from Phomolo, KwaThema, at or around More Street, number 54. According to the family, he went missing during the early hours of today. He was reportedly last seen without shoes. The family says he is originally from Mpumalanga, Magasoni.
